A Glimpse at Uk?s Changing Fashion

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Powered by Max Banner Ads

The UKs fashion industry is worth around 44.5 billion. But because of Chinese imports, an estimated 5% of our household expenses are used to buy us fashionable clothes and shoes.

There are a lot of UK brands that are famous not only in their area but in the entire world as well. To name a few, there is Marks and Spencer (market leader in high fashion), Primark and TK Maxx. The younger generation however loves to buy exclusively from Prada (Italy), Hugo Boss (Germany), Chloe (France), Burberry (UK) and Donna Karan (US).

Because there has been an increase of cheap imports, it nearly eliminated the industry of UK manufacturing. UK manufacturing focuses on special luxury products and specialist fashion clothing. The top three retailers of fashion in the UK are Next, Marks and Spencer and Arcadia (Topshop, BHS, Dorothy Perkins, etc). who still choose to make and retail their own personal brands and lines of clothing. However there are exceptions to this rule which favor hiring specialist retailers for their brands, namely, Nike, Reebok and Adidas.

To summarize, we know that the UK fashion market will always be manipulated by retailers instead of manufacturers with a combination of discounters and retailers that offer full price. The latter will target the younger generations need for quality materials, couture-house designs and individual styles which are marketed as fast fashion with limited offerings before they release new items. We all know that fashion trends in the UK will flourish in the many years to come.

Harbor City

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Harbor City is one of the large shopping malls in Tsim Sha Tsui, a city in Hong Kong. It has four sections: the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel, Ocean Center, Ocean Terminal and the Gateway. Harbor City is quite popular among locals and tourists, because of many different reasons. Firstly, it’s located in a conveniently accessible place, in a famous shopping district in Hong Kong and amidst other tourist attractions. Over 60,000 people traveling back and forth between the office blocks and the shopping mall, as well as the regular exhibitions and performances are other reasons for Harbor City’s popularity.

Like all big malls worldwide, Harbor City features plenty of designer boutiques, such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Yves St Laurent, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Polo Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Prada and Burberry. Two cinemas are available at Grand Ocean and Grand Gateway, while the largest Toys R Us store in Hong Kong and a massive Lane Crawford outlet are also available in the Hong Kong hotel section. The Ocean Terminal’s 3rd floor houses the LCX, the retailer collection for the new generation customers. Besides these, two supermarkets are also located inside Harbor City. This central mall is located upon Hong Kong’s original colonial era wharf and dock warehouse.

As mentioned earlier, Harbor City has been compartmentalized into four sections. The Zone OT, also known as the Ocean Terminal is where you’ll find all the big names in fashion and design. The three levels available on Zone OT include the KidX on ground level, SportX & Faces (level 1) and LCX retailer collection (level 2). Each of these specialize in selling exactly what the name suggests, so KidX is all about children’s wear and accessories, SportX & Faces offers sportswear and cosmetics, and LCX concentrates on providing a multitude of clothes, accessories and shoes for the young and trendy shopper.

Zone HH, the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel Arcade area, offers high-end ladies’ and gents’ fashion, as well as modern home furniture at Lane Crawford. More fashionable home decorating items are found at the G.O.D. The Grand Ocean cinema is also located in this section.

The Ocean Center (Zone OC) offers a mixture of designer fashion, audio-visual equipment, jewelry and branded retail watch outlets. Several international restaurants and the Golden Gateway Multiplex (four mini cinemas) are also available in Zone OC.

When you visit Harbor City, you are within the vicinity of Kowloon, so it’s only logical to reserve a room at the closest Kowloon hotel for you to relax at the end of the day. After all, shopping at Harbor City can easily take you several days. Among the many hotels in Hong Kong, the best place to rest your feet and give your mind some peace would be the Langham Hotel Hong Kong, probably the best Kowloon hotel within easy reach from the shopping mall.

Celebrities and designer reading glasses

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

The fashion industry is not just about clothing and shoes, accessories play a major role in a complete personal fashion statement. The eyeglass industry has made a major impact on fashion and designers as well as celebrities want to be recognized for being totally in sync with what is worn on the body, as well as what is worn on the face. Reading glasses and sunglasses are considered essential fashion accessories and designers develop styles that compliment them. Every brand wants eyewear recognition and every consumer wants eyewear that distinguish and accent their personal fashion tastes. The eyeglass market is constantly changing and new designers license their names to eyeglass companies to promote a lifestyle or attitude. Celebrities wear their designs and a profitable relationship develops, which is called a complete fashion statement.

The list of fashion designers that license their name for reading glasses and sunglasses is a long one. Every designer knows that theres a celebrity waiting to advertise and promote their product. Brands like Baby Phat, Converse. Prada, Burberry, Polo, Kate Spade, Guess, Gucci and Hugo Boss, as well as Ray-Ban, Oakley and Shuron Ronsir and countless others, all play a major role in the eyeglass market. Fashion is rooted in association. Everyone develops a fashion statement based on something that is already established. Theres a consumer who wears only Polo clothing or Kate Spade designs, so the reading glasses must be in sync with the brands clothing and other accessories.

Celebrities are considered walking billboards when it comes to promoting an eyeglass brand. Brad Pitt wearing a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses is worth millions in sales, but when you add names like Johnny Depp, Ben Affleck and Luke Ford to Ray-Ban’s list of wearers, the sales continue to grow season after season. Tom Cruise in a pair of Oakley Romeos or John Travolta in a pair of Oakley Square Wires or Matt Damon seen wearing a pair of Shuron Ronsir Zyls, creates new fashion statements that trickle through different cultures and create individual attitudes and style niches. The eyeglass industry is driven and supported by celebrities that wear eyeglasses and designers who license their name. It is a relationship that is a win for everyone involved. Thanks to that relationship, sunglasses and reading glasses have moved from the inexpensive racks in grocery stores to designer display cases in high-end retail outlets. A designer pair of reading glasses can cost as much as tailored suit or dress. Eyeglasses have taken their rightful place in the fashion world and that places keeps getting bigger everyday.

Finding Popular Prescription Glasses

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Whether you have just discovered that you need prescription glasses or simply want to replace the ones you have, it pays to go with some of the most popular prescription glasses. These are the ones that are going to be of the best quality, in general, since people usually reject anything that is subpar pretty fast.

When you first walk into an eyeglass shop, you’ll see an overwhelming display of prescription glasses. The most popular will usually have the most prevalent display to entice you to buy those. And they are often a good choice, so it’s definitely a good idea to take a look at the options offered.

What are some of the most popular prescription glasses?

Top Designer Prescription Glasses

There are quite a few clothing designers who have decided to branch out into the whole prescription glasses area and because of their fame in the area of clothing, perfume, shoes, etc., they tend to make it big with eye wear, too, at a very rapid pace. These designer brands are often far more popular than others that are focused exclusively on glasses.

Such big names in the fashion world include:

- Hugo Boss

- Armani

- Brookes Brothers

- Calvin Klein

- Christian Dior

- Diesel

- DKNY

- Fendi

- Gucci

- Valentino

- Puma

- Liz Claiborne

- Marc Jacobs

- Prada

There are many other big names in fashion that are also expanding into the world of glasses and eye wear and making it all the more stylish for their clients. It’s now possible to be dressed in designer brand names from top to bottom, from shoes, purse and glasses to jewelry and perfume, as well as clothing.

Other Popular Prescription Glasses

Of course, the fashion gurus aren’t the only ones who are in on the whole fashionable glasses movement. You’ll find that the whole area of glasses is one where designs abound and popular fashion statements are being made all the time. It’s up to you to select the brand that you want.

With brands like Ray Ban, which is commonly associated with sunglasses, and other popular styles, you really can’t go wrong. There`s a reason there are so many glasses options when you enter that store, you need to find the right pair for your face.

Choosing a Popular Brand

While going with a popular brand of prescription glasses, you will also want to ensure that they look good on you. Just because the initials CK are stamped into the frames doesn’t mean that they will fit your face. Try on various styles and decide which type goes best with your face type. For example, large glasses won`t look good on a more petite face, but a smaller pair could be just what you are looking for. Square glasses tend to look more masculine than oval ones, but you will need to decide for yourself which style you want.

Many people these days prefer frameless glasses, so there is no rim, only the arms. This is a great look, particularly if you aren’t fond of looking like you have glasses and can really help make your glasses more unobtrusive.

The pair of glasses you select is a big deal. It says a lot about you and will make or break your looks with the glasses on. Some people find that the right pair of glasses can make them look even hotter than without, so it is definitely worth doing a few test runs to see which pair of glasses suit you the most.

Celebrating an Ode to the Tradition of Cufflinks

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Cufflinks have emerged not only as affordable fashion accessories conveying your own personal style, but also as great gift items for almost all occasions, for men as well as ladies.

A glance into past is foundational to creating styles for the future. Mens jewellery marks a new creative direction for many established and emerging designers. Their energies are harnessed in the products of their own ideas, now available in a myriad of forms.

A new sense of freedom emanates from each creative stroke of the artist pen, to flash finally with crystals and silver.

An ever expanding range of French cuffed shirts appear on the horizon giving men the variety they deserve. Any opportunity for decoration is worth its while.

After many years of repetitive styles the demand is relieved by wise enough retailers, well researched, keeping one eye on the weather. Just a quick browse in any upmarket department store will reveal more than a dozen brands offering fragrant grooming to taunt any man.

An all time favourite Hugo Boss splash on after shave. Just a small dose is enough to last the day, coupled with a subtle hand lotion to barrier against the harsh environment of air conditioned offices.

If you really want women to notice, then a little adornment wont go astray. Polish your shoes, be a little extravagant in your choice of floral silk tie, a freshly ironed shirt, a close shave, clean finger nails and you will be prepared for any occasion (in a red skirt)

In the midst of an urgent market, a wide variety of mechanisms for open and closing cufflinks appeared: the classic chain is replaced by the flip-hinge. Jewellers like Cartier and Tiffany crafted work of art cufflinks in mother of pearl, crystal; precious stones.

These famous fashion names establish cufflinks as the essential accessory for men.

The looking glass of our history, cufflinks espouse centuries through various designs: art deco at the end of 19th century, extravagant in the period 1940-1950, eccentric in 1960 with Hollywood stars and whimsical today.

Now as the dress down trend wanes, the dress up style is about to dominate as it has for centuries, broken by spasmodic fashion fluctuations, a testimony to style ever constant. The classics are always waiting in the wings.

Dont balk at the cost of these little gems. The value captured in each piece will last a life time, ready to pass onto the next generation.

The flavour of the past decade in material choice is enamel.

Recommendations.

Simon Carter shirts are wisely packaged with a free set of cufflinks and collar stiffeners. Enough to entice customers back to include his ever expanding range into their collections.

Duchamp is experts in collating colour pattern and texture across the board from their luxurious shirts to their hallmark paisley ties and matching cufflinks.

Veritas design for the individual and for the corporate sector. Their unusual approach to product development has won them many awards. They have never moved too far from conservative classics.

Patrick McMurray; fusing enamels articulately is inspired by the brilliance of Pueblo Deco, Art Deco and the natural environment, which is captured and framed within geometric forms. The result is a small range of hand enameled cufflinks that reek with individuality, a reflection of the designer himself.

Its the independents that are outstripping more prominent names like, Oroton, Boss, and Gucci. Side by side, the later lack lustre and originality.

Creating individuality in design requires great attention to detail and a lot of time and effort. Many brands simply license their products to manufacturers or select from a narrow range of samples, so the essence is lost from the start and it becomes more obvious when on display in the high street.

So when browsing, choose wisely and by doing so the value of your purchase will be retained for a life time.

A practitioner of strategic planning in business alignment: He is developing a new brand of fashion accessories for men

as a truly independent alternative: Concurrently purveying designer silk ties, silver, crystal and enamel cufflinks, fine leather wallets, plus a collection of jewellery by noted British designers, such as, Vivienne Westwood, Timothy Everest, Ian Flaherty, Veritas, Lbb London, Simon Carter, Michelsons and Shane McCoubrey. Perpetuating traditional English made clothing accessories is part of our ethos.
